Senior Community Cafe
The Senior Community Café, which provides a meal Monday through Friday, is part of the South Central Connecticut Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP). The purpose of this program, which is funded by a federal grant, is to promote good health by providing older Americans with lower cost nutritionally balanced meals served in sites which also provide services and opportunities for socialization. According to federal guidelines, participants age 60 and over cannot be required to pay for the meals, although a suggested donation ($2.00) is encouraged. For those under age 60 the meal cost is $5.75. Beatrice Wunderlee, Site Manager, is an employee of the Community Action Agency of New Haven and the program also uses many volunteers from the Senior Center. The Wallingford Senior Center provides the space, utilities, equipment and transportation for this program. Please contact the Senior Community Café at 265-3508 between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. by calling up to and at least one day in advance to reserve a meal. Please remember to call the Center at 265-7753 if you need transportation. Additional details below:
